IT'S ALL ABOUT THE
DOGS
Friends of Penny – the Most Elite Dog
Rescue Team Friends of Penny Min Pin Rescue, Inc. is a dog rescue to
which none can compare. This rescue group’s mission
is strong and unfaltering; run on solid values of unparalleled
compassion, unsurpassed devotion and resolute commitment to
saving and improving the lives of Miniature Pinschers. Friends
of Penny rescue techniques, organization and guiding principles
set them apart from any other.
Friends of Penny’s Incomparable Values Steadfastly refusing to follow the atrocious ethics of other
rescues, Friends of Penny is committed: they will never turn
their backs to a Min Pin in need. The values of other rescues
are shocking; they are merely interested in money and “rescuing”
only the young and healthy. Organizations that dare to call
themselves rescues will pay no attention to the dogs in true
misery: the ones who have suffered inhumane torment, the ones
who’s bodies are ravaged by disease and softly weeping
for help, the ones who are so famished their bodies are slowly
wither away, and the older dogs who have suffered many years
of anguish. Other rescues groups will act as virtual firing
squads and repulsively send these dogs to their death; Friends
of Penny will save these dogs. Friends of Penny devote enormous
time and effort to save every single Min Pin that silently
pleads for help.
Friends of Penny’s Incomparable Mission Friends of Penny never allow anything to prevent their mission
and they ensure every aspect of a true rescue from start to
successful finish, with strong conviction.

Friends of Penny’s Incomparable
Leadership Friends of Penny was co-founded by Jeff
Watchmaker, Rose Raupp and Rochelle Whitt. Each co-founder
leads in their own unique way and they share all responsibilities.
Offering endless and tireless volunteer work, they ensure
all aspects of the mission are met. Jeff Watchmaker has deep
determination that runs through his very core. Rose has a
strong drive to save Min Pins that is clearly evident. Rochelle
is devoted to the mission with all her strength. In addition,
all volunteers are considered as equals; there are no politics
or corporate drama involved in this rescue. There is no match
to the commitment, compassion and resolve that guides the
rescue through every mission. 100% of dedication is put toward
saving the lives of Min Pins and at the same time 100% of
supportive is given to every volunteer. Friends of Penny’s
philosophy and values make each volunteer feel that they are
part of a large extended family. There are no bounds when
it comes to saving a Min Pin or in assisting a volunteer’s
needs. The leadership skills of Friends of Penny keep the
rescue going strong and without limits. Their noble work and
efforts are never-ending to expand, develop and continue without
restrictions to save any Min Pin that is in peril.
It's all about the dogs Rescue
dogs come from all types of situations. When they end up
in rescue it is through no fault of their own. We in rescue
believe that it is our responsibility to prevent these rescue
dogs from being placed in another bad situation. Therefore,
we screen applicants carefully, we do vet references, home
History Our Rescue is three years old. All of our volunteers are rescuers
and they all are sharing their lives with a rescued dog: they
all care for and love animals. From this we hope to build
a rescue any furkid could be proud of. All three cofounders
have previous rescue experience with other dog rescues and
business management. We started three years ago with nothing
but disgust with other rescues putting money, adding personal
drama, and picking the dogs they wanted to save. They would
take puppies, young dogs in good condition. Older dogs, dogs
with issues they passed on and were PTS with their “blessing”.
We have never passed on any dog in danger of death. We have
found homes for dogs with medical conditions, behavioral issues.
We find the right home for each dog. We are all about the
dogs. FOP has a 100% rehoming success rate. We are constantly
checking on all of or adoptions. We have an unconditional
guarantee to take the dog back anytime no questions asked.
Accomplishments
There are lots of ways to choose a dog - we think rehoming
is the best one. Friends of Penny Minpin Rescue works with
you to match your needs to the needs of dogs. We know that
choosing the dog that’s right for you leads to happy
people and happy dogs. Within just under three years Friends
of Penny has saved over 90+ dogs from death and found them
wonderful homes to live out their lives. Our group consists
of three founders, a management team and volunteers. Our total
ranks are 43 over a few states. We mostly operate in NC, SC
& VA we are moving into MD, but we have saved dogs from
all states. In March 07 we had a vet-tech flying to CA to
pick up two min pins scheduled to be put to sleep the next
week. She is flying them back with them. Once enter rescue
we will assess them, work with them and find them the right
home where they may live a long happy life. All of our Min
Pin’s go to their forever home completely vetted: All
are spayed/neutered, all their vaccinations will be up to
date, they will be heartworm negative and be on monthly heartworm
preventative. If there are any other medical or behavioral
issues, they are also addressed as well. The dogs’ needs
always come first: Always! We always give each Min Pin everything
they need, and we never let medical costs or human hours needed
to be a negative factor in saving a miniature pincher’s
life.
Our name has been traveling coast to coast, state to state
and FOP becoming the known as the “rescuers rescue”
for min pins. We get the job done!
Future Goals Our goal is a very simple one: To help the ones in need who
we know about, and to pray for the ones in need who we don't
know about. In March 2007 within a co-founders meeting it
was decided that FOP was at a crossroad. We could stay a “backyard”
rescue or become a significant organization. We understand
most small business fail by growing too fast. The reality
is: rescue is reactive most of the time; controlling growth
would mean allowing dog to die. The choice has been made.
We need to change our organization to be proactive and to
be able to effectively move on a moments notice.
Phase II of FOP will be to implement the infrastructure to
sustain growth, keeping the quality high, a business plan
will be formally written, policies will be tightening up and
a quality control will implement to control the volume.
Our end game:
- FOP will have it’s own facility Admin offices, and
“bulk” foster homing capacity
- FOP transportation network
- PR dept will be getting our name out: Doing interviews,
etc.. Extremely proactive
- Giving back to communities
- Legislation branch
- Fundraising will be brought up to a profession level
- Education community outreach
- Rainbow Ranch area (hospice)
- A model for other rescues to follow to be successful
- Not changing our values, it always has to be about the
dogs.
- Maintaining our Unit Integrity
The Extraordinary Members of Friends
of Penny Min Pin Rescue The members of Friends of Penny
are by no means typical dog rescue volunteers. The reason
that Friends of Penny is so elite, are considered to be the
“Rescuer’s rescue”, why so many Min Pins
have been saved against overwhelming odds is because every
member of Friends of Penny has an amazing dedication that
knows no bounds.
Each member has had their own personal reasons for joining
Friends of Penny; however they all have one common mission.
Every member of Friend of Penny will save the life of any
Min Pin regardless of the circumstances. This elite rescue
team will travel any distance, go against the perverse mentality
of kill-shelter staff without backing down, fight for the
life of a Min Pin by ensuring medical care regardless of how
extensive and will give 100% of their very life force to immediately
go to the aid of a Min Pin in need.
The members have devotion so strong, so committed; some have
witnessed the most repulsive cruelty of dogs that a human
could possibly imagine; yet they continue without pause. The
merciless treatment they see of abandoned Min Pins only makes
them more determined; it gives them the power to forever continue
their valiant fight.
Members have gone head-to-head with shelters. Some shelters
are not run properly: they are kill-shelters that only wish
to save the young and healthy Min Pins. The shelters will
slaughter the older dogs, the dogs with medical problems and
any dog that they deem will not make them money. In some cases,
members of Friends of Penny will find that a shelter will
have a twisted mindset, and attempt to hinder the rescue of
certain Min Pins. That type of shelter will the delay the
process of a volunteer attempting to rescue a dog, precious
time will tick by; as the dogs in kill-shelters are slain
at least once a week.
No matter what obstacle is put in their way, members of Friends
of Penny will knock it down, go around it or jump over it.
In the case of Adonis, a Min Pin who was stuck in a malicious
shelter who delayed his release until he was severely ill,
members gave every possible effort to save him and showed
their pure, unstoppable determination.
They contacted the kill-shelter and immediately volunteered
to take Adonis. When told they could not be given Adonis because
of an irrelevant piece tax paper, they attempted to adopt
him as a private citizen. When told they could not adopt as
a private citizen, they attempted to have a taxi pick up Adonis
and take him to an animal hospital. When told the taxi would
not transport Adonis without a human companion and the shelter
would not accompany him, they found a volunteer who donated
his money to hire a private limousine for Adonis. Adonis was
so overcome with illness by the time the shelter allowed his
release into the limousine that sorrowfully Adonis did not
survive. He is in now on the Rainbow Bridge. His legacy propels
the members to fight even harder.
Member of Friends of Penny cover every aspect that is needed
to ensure the rescue team runs with perfect proficiency. They
receive calls daily from all over the country. Members have
never and will never say no to any Min Pin in need of rescue.
Transportation to save the dog will be found no matter what
the circumstances. In some instances, long-distance truck
drivers will assist; as they are already planning on driving
from state to state. Members themselves will drive to any
location, as the dedication to save dogs is their steadfast
mission before anything else.
Once a Min Pin is rescued, if a foster home is not available,
members will lovingly take the dog home. Members bring the
dogs to all veterinarian appointments; as Friends of Penny
ensures that all dogs will be completely vetted. Members review
applications of the families wishing to adopt and they conduct
home visits to ensure the home is dog-friendly and the match
between the Min Pin and the new family is optimal. Members
stay in touch with the new families and offer support, guidance
and answer any questions that may arise. Most astoundingly,
this is all done by money donated by the volunteers and donors.
If it were not for the generous donations given by compassion
people; the unthinkable would happen.
The care, compassion, kindness and shear dedication that
the members of Friends of Penny possess are limitless and
astounding. They have tracked through muddy swamps in search
of dogs that were reportedly seen. They have amazing creativity;
as one member attempted to hire blood-hounds to find a Min
Pin dog that ran away from her home; as he was so terrified
of people, so utterly afraid he would be hurt that he frantically
ran from any human.
Members never know what condition a Min Pin will be in when
rescued; this does not deter them. Members will compassionately
care for dogs that are so malnourished that their bones are
sticking out from their bodies, so infested with hookworms
that the dogs lay suffering in agony, dogs that are so terrified
of human touch that they will cower to the ground and lay
as flat as they can in an attempt to not be seen. They have
also rescued Min Pins that are simply tiny and alone, afraid
and just needing a warm hug.
The anguish that Friends of Penny members have seen can be
heart wrenching; however the miracles they see of once frightened
dogs quickly becoming happy, thriving and loving companions
warm their hearts. Their compassion is incomprehensible, as
nothing deters them. Every member is 100% devoted to this
rescue team; they are passionate about the rescue and offer
high praise to their fellow rescue team members. The co-founders
are unwavering in their mission and are revered as being the
most considerate and dedicated leaders one would ever hope
for.
The consensus of the members is adamant: Friends of Penny
is a large, extended family. Moreover, they welcome new members
with open arms and immeasurable support. Each member feels
strongly about never wanting to let down a dog and never letting
down a teammate. Unit integrity is unmatchable.
Knowing how many other rescues are poorly run and with many
rescues revolving around money, the members of Friends of
Penny have formed an unbreakable bond with each other. They
are all connected no matter what the distance and are friends
in the true sense of the word. Members have worked together
to make Friends of Penny one of the most elite dog rescue
teams in the country. With a team this devoted, this strong
and this determined; they are unstoppable.
