Friends of Penny – the Most Elite Dog Rescue Team Friends of Penny Min Pin Rescue, is a dog rescue to which none can compare. This rescue group's mission is strong and unfaltering; run on solid values of unparalleled compassion, unsurpassed devotion and resolute commitment to saving and improving the lives of Miniature Pinschers. Friends of Penny rescue techniques, organization and guiding principles set them apart from any other.
Friends of Penny's Incomparable Values Steadfastly refusing to follow the atrocious ethics of other rescues, Friends of Penny is committed: they will never turn their backs to a Min Pin in need. The values of other rescues are shocking; they are merely interested in money and “rescuing” only the young and healthy. Organizations that dare to call themselves rescues will pay no attention to the dogs in true misery: the ones who have suffered inhumane torment, the ones who's bodies are ravaged by disease and softly weeping for help, the ones who are so famished their bodies are slowly wither away, and the older dogs who have suffered many years of anguish. Other rescues groups will act as virtual firing squads and repulsively send these dogs to their death; Friends of Penny will save these dogs. Friends of Penny devote enormous time and effort to save every single Min Pin that silently pleads for help.
Friends of Penny's Incomparable Mission Friends of Penny never allow anything to prevent their mission and they ensure every aspect of a true rescue from start to successful finish, with strong conviction.

It's all about the dogs Rescue dogs come from all types of situations. When they end up in rescue it is through no fault of their own. We in rescue believe that it is our responsibility to prevent these rescue dogs from being placed in another bad situation. Therefore, we screen applicants carefully, we do vet references, home visits and follow-ups.
History Our Rescue is three years old. All of our volunteers are rescuers and they all are sharing their lives with a rescued dog: they all care for and love animals. From this we hope to build a rescue any furkid could be proud of. Both cofounders have previous rescue experience with other dog rescues and business management. We started almost five years ago with nothing but disgust with other rescues putting money, adding personal drama, and picking the dogs they wanted to save. They would take puppies, young dogs in good condition. Older dogs, dogs with issues they passed on and were PTS with their “blessing”. We have never passed on any dog in danger of death. We have found homes for dogs with medical conditions, behavioral issues. We find the right home for each dog. We are all about the dogs. FOP has a 100% rehoming success rate. We are constantly checking on all of or adoptions. We have an unconditional guarantee to take the dog back anytime no questions asked.
Accomplishments There are lots of ways to choose a dog - we think rehoming is the best one. Friends of Penny Minpin Rescue works with you to match your needs to the needs of dogs. We know that choosing the dog that's right for you leads to happy people and happy dogs. Within just under three years Friends of Penny has saved over 90+ dogs from death and found them wonderful homes to live out their lives. Our group consists of three founders, a management team and volunteers. Our total ranks are 43 over a few states. We mostly operate in NC, SC & VA we are moving into MD, but we have saved dogs from all states. In March 07 we had a vet-tech flying to CA to pick up two min pins scheduled to be put to sleep the next week. She is flying them back with them. Once enter rescue we will assess them, work with them and find them the right home where they may live a long happy life. All of our Min Pin's go to their forever home completely vetted: All are spayed/neutered, all their vaccinations will be up to date, they will be heartworm negative and be on monthly heartworm preventative. If there are any other medical or behavioral issues, they are also addressed as well. The dogs' needs always come first: Always! We always give each Min Pin everything they need, and we never let medical costs or human hours needed to be a negative factor in saving a miniature pincher's life.
Our name has been traveling coast to coast, state to state and FOP becoming the known as the “rescuers rescue” for min pins. We get the job done!
Future Goals Our goal is a very simple one: To help the ones in need who we know about, and to pray for the ones in need who we don't know about. In March 2007 within a co-founders meeting it was decided that FOP was at a crossroad. We could stay a “backyard” rescue or become a significant organization. We understand most small business fail by growing too fast. The reality is: rescue is reactive most of the time; controlling growth would mean allowing dog to die. The choice has been made. We need to change our organization to be proactive and to be able to effectively move on a moments notice.
Phase II of FOP will be to implement the infrastructure to sustain growth, keeping the quality high, a business plan will be formally written, policies will be tightening up and a quality control will implement to control the volume.
Our end game:
- FOP will have it's own facility Admin offices, and “bulk” foster homing capacity
- FOP transportation network
- PR dept will be getting our name out: Doing interviews, etc.. Extremely proactive
- Giving back to communities
- Fundraising will be brought up to a profession level
- Education community outreach
- Rainbow Ranch area (hospice)
- A model for other rescues to follow to be successful
- Not changing our values, it always has to be about the dogs.
- Maintaining our Unit Integrity
