Where do I start?
Complete our adoption application.
Once you have and submitted an application, the first step is a vet check . We call your vet to verify some information on your current and past animals.
After the vet check is completed we make arrangements to have a brief telephone conversation with you so we can we exchange general information about the breed, specific information on the particular Min Pin you are interested in and, most importantly, the call gives both of us both an opportunity to get to know one another.
At Friends of Penny Min Pin Rescue we are all about the dogs; it not just about placing any dog with any family. We want the right home for the Min Pin as well as the perfect Min Pin for your family. We have had a 100% success rate in our re-homing program and we want to keep it that way.
When possible, we make arrangements to bring the Min Pin you want to adopt ( we also call them “furkids”) with us when we do your home-visit. Please understand that this does not guarantee that the minpin will stay at your home and the adoption will be finalized right at that point. On some occasions, we may be able to complete the adoption contract (the contact is on our website) and finalize everything at your home visit
What is your fee for adoption?
Adoption donations (also referred to as cost of adoption) are based on the needs of the furkid being adopted (i.e. age, health, vetting costs, etc.) Normal adoption donations range from three hundred to three hundred and fifty dollars. Again, the adoption donation is based on the of medical cost, behavioral specialists and programs, if needed, and in vetting the Min Pin's needs.
All of our Min Pin's go to their forever home completely vetted: All are spayed/neutered, all their vaccinations will be up to date, they will be heartworm negative or will have completed heartworm treatment and be on monthly heartworm preventative. If there are any other medical or behavioral issues, they are also addressed as well. The dogs' needs always come first: Always! We always give each Min Pin everything they need, and we never let medical costs or human hours needed to be a negative factor in saving a miniature pincher's life.
Min Pin Rescue, Inc. a/k/a Friends of Penny is an all volunteer based non-profit corporation registered with the Secretary of State of North Carolina. No one within the rescue organization receives any monetary compensation: not one cent. Our volunteers give their time, their money, and their hearts to save miniature pinchers' lives and for the love of the breed. 100% of your adoption donation and any other donations received are used to pay the vetting costs of Min Pin within the rescue. Frequently our medical costs on the care we give a particular Min Pin will way exceed the requested adoption donation by many times. All administrative and operational expenses are paid solely by the volunteers, not the rescue. All donations to Friends of Penny go directly to the Furkids.

Are Long Distance adoptions possible
Friends of Penny Min Pin Rescue does do long distance adoptions on occasion. If we can find a local home for a Min Pin, as we usually can, we will place the Min Pin locally before considering a long distance placement. The reason for this is:
- Shipping is stressful for an animal, and many rescue furkids are fearful already.
- We require a home visit to be done before placing a Min Pin in a new home, and this may not be possible with a long distance placement.
- Sometimes adopting homes need help with training the rescued dog, and occasionally a placement does not work out. We have a strong commitment to our rescues and we want to be in a position to help them again if necessary
Please keep in mind that our rescued min pin's are not a "gift" option. Dog ownership is a life long commitment that should be decided on by the entire household. However, if the person that you want to give the “gift” to is in agreement, they can go through our standard application process (explained above) and you, as the giver, can pay the adoption fee as your gift.
We make it our goal to find permanent forever homes for our fosters.
Puppymill Information
There is some contention over the definition of the term, "puppymill". A common definition describes a puppymill as a "substandard breeding facility that fails to adhere to the Animal Welfare Act, and which tries to avoid state and/or federal inspections".
